Description

Buccastem M tablets are used for the relief of nausea and vomiting associated with migraines in adults aged 18years and over.

The active ingredient contained in Buccastem M tablets is 'Prochlorperazine maleate 3mg'

Prochlorperazine is an anti-sickness medicine and can help stop you feeling or being sick (nausea and/or vomiting).

Prochlorperazine starts to work in around 30 to 60 minutes.

It is best not to consume alcohol whilst taking prochlorperazine as it can increase the chance of side effects such as drowsiness.

Buccastem M is indicated for the relief of nausea and vomiting associated with previously diagnosed migraine.

It is administered as 'buccal' tablet - it is taken by placing high up under the top lip between the gum and lip. Here, it dissolves slowly and forms a gel where it then absorbs slowly into the body. This method of drug delivery is effective in patients who are feeling nauseous and do not wish to ingest the tablet or do not think they can retain it in their stomach for it to absorb effectively.

The tablets are best taken after meals as it allows more time to dissolve.

Always familiarise yourself with the information leaflet included with your medication.
If you have any concerns or queries do not hesitate to get in touch where a member of our experienced pharmacy team would be more than happy to help.
