Pyrocalm Control tablets are used in adults for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn, acid regurgitation). Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet “foodpipe”, which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful burning sensation in the chest rising up to the throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation). Pyrocalm Control tablets are not meant to bring immediate relief. It might be necessary to take tablets for 2-3 consecutive days to achieve improvement of symptoms. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

Active Ingredient

The active substance Is omeprazole. Each tablet contains 20mg of omeprazole. The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, sodium starch glycolate, sodium stearyl fumarate, sodium stearate, hypromellose acetate succinate, brownish pink colour (which contains propylene glycol, titanium dioxide (E171), red iron oxide (E172), hypromellose and yellow iron oxide (E172)), talc, triethyl citrate, monoethanolamine, sodium laurilsulfate and traces of carnauba wax.

Dosage

Take one tablet once a day . Do not exceed this dose. One tablet provides relief for upto 24 hours. Can be taken with or without food. The tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not chew or crush the tablets. May take 2-3 days for full effect. If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 days in a row, contact your doctor.

Warnings

This medicine should not be used by children and adolescents under 18 years of age. IMPORTANT: It can take 2 to 3 days for symptoms to improve. Antacids can be used to treat your symptoms while waiting for the product to have full effect. Pyrocalm Control 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets (omeprazole) shouldn’t be taken if you are using other PPI (e.g. esomeprazole) or H2-antagonists (e.g. ranitidine). It interacts. If you have any allergies to the ingredients or sensitivities to other PPI’s you should not take Pyrocalm Control 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets (omeprazole). For further information on allergies refer to the pack information. Please READ THE LEAFLET as there are other medicines that may interact with Pyrocalm Control 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets (omeprazole); e.g. omeprazole can decrease the absorption of certain antifungal medicines so you are advised to take this with an acidic drink. If you are taking other medicines (including herbal medicines) or supplements you should discuss these with your pharmacist.

Do not take Pyrocalm control tablets if: You are allergic to omeprazole or any of the other ingredients in this medicine. You are allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors (e.g. pantoprazole, lansoprazole, esomeprazole). You are taking a medicine used for HIV infection. Do not take Pyrocalm Control tablets if any of the above apply to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Pyrocalm Control tablets.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Your doctor will decide whether you can take Pyrocalm Control Tablets during this time. There is no evidence that Pyrocalm Control Tablets have any effect on fertility.

Omeprazole is excreted in breast milk but is not likely to influence the child when therapeutic doses are used. Your doctor will decide whether you can take Pyrocalm Control Tablets if you are breast-feeding.

Storage Information

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry data which is stated on the pack after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not store above 25°C. Store the tablets in the original package in order to protect from moisture. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist on how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
