1. Who qualifies to write clinical content

All clinical content on QuickMeds must be written by a practising, GPhC-registered pharmacist (MPharm qualification minimum). Articles covering prescribing decisions, contraindications, or treatment comparisons must be written or co-authored by a GPhC-registered independent prescriber (IPresc) or a GMC-registered medical doctor. Content about lifestyle or general wellness may be written by trained health writers under pharmacist supervision, but the article must still carry a pharmacist reviewer.

2. The review process

Every clinical article is reviewed by a qualified clinician who was not the primary author. Reviewers must hold the same minimum qualification as authors (GPhC pharmacist for standard articles; IP or GMC for prescribing content). Reviewers are selected based on their area of expertise and must have no commercial interest in the article topic. The reviewer's name, qualifications, and registration number are displayed on every article alongside the author.

3. Authoritative sources we use

Our clinical writers reference current, peer-reviewed and authoritative sources only:

• NHS and NICE clinical guidelines and technology appraisals
• MHRA licensing decisions, drug safety updates, and Yellow Card data
• Current Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) and patient information leaflets
• Peer-reviewed journals (BMJ, NEJM, Lancet, British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology)
• Royal Pharmaceutical Society professional guidance

Anecdotal evidence, unverified social media claims, or commercial press releases are never used as primary sources.

4. Review frequency

All clinical articles are reviewed at least every 12 months. Additionally, any article is immediately queued for urgent review when:

• MHRA issues a drug safety update or recall notice relating to the topic
• NICE publishes new or updated guidance covering the condition or treatment
• A significant change in prescribing guidelines is published
• Our clinical team identifies an error or outdated claim

5. Emergency content review process

If an MHRA alert or product recall is issued that affects content on our site, our Superintendent Pharmacist is notified immediately. The affected article(s) are taken offline within 24 hours, reviewed, and republished with a correction notice once updated. Readers are not redirected to outdated cached versions during this process.

6. Independence and conflicts of interest

Sponsored or promotional content is clearly labelled. Clinical articles are never written or edited by commercial partners. Authors and reviewers declare any conflicts of interest before accepting an assignment. Our editorial team operates independently of our commercial team.
